Our Preschool Crafty Kid

So we had these ideas to do some Summer Boredom Busters, one is Preschool Crafty Kids (preschoolers come with a parent and do crafts and some songs and games), Movie Day, and Crafty Kids (crafts for older kids). Sheri has been helping me do the Preschool Crafty Kids and it is so cute. Last week was Old McDonald and this week was Bugs Everywhere. Here is a picture of Logan in his "Bumble Bee Hat" (that is what he is calling it and he runs all over with his finger pointed out in front of him saying BUZZZZZZZZ), and some bug magnets that he made. Thankfully we came up with this silly had at Logan's birthday, it came in handy today and oh so cute!

We've been slackers and haven't really posted anything. Kyson is a very happy baby and smiles all the time! He is a joy to have in our home (all 18 lbs of him)! Here's a video of his smiles:

Logan Loves the Prophets

We read "scriptures" every night (we tell him the stories as we look at pictures). Well Logan's new thing to everything is to ask "what's that?" Sheri was doing scriptures with him and past the prophets and he asked "what's that?" So she started to tell him the names, he repeated them and the next time I was shocked, he remembered almost every one. We just have taught him from President McKay to President Monson because the other President Smiths confuse and frustrate him...i.e. "thats not President Smith". Week 1

We have had a great week here! We love having Kyson in our home, what a sweet little angel. He's sleeping better at night, which is great for mom and dad. Logan is still very sweet with him. He says "Don't cry baby" and gives him sweet kisses at night before bed. He likes to "share" his mom and it's a good thing that you can fit two on one lap!

This weekend we got some help from Sheri's family. Logan loved getting all of the extra attention. He played (term used usely, some might describe his playing as destruction) puzzle with Grandpa. He also played Mr. Fix-it with Grandpa. He kept Grandma hopping with all of his energy. He even got to play with his Uncles. The best part was Mom and Dad got some much needed rest and a long nap!

Introducing Kyson Lee Schmidt!
Introducing Kyson Lee Schmidt! We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our beautiful son. Born 2/9/2009 at 12:52p.m. Weighing in at 8 lbs 7 oz and 21 inches, yes that is a big boy. Sheri was induced and did an amazing job! I am so amazed by her strength! We spent 2 nights in the hospital and were so blessed to have Sheri's mom Camille and sister Shelly and her husband David to be willing to come spend the days and nights with Logan. We came home today 2/11/09 at around 3 pm. It feels great to be home with our family of four. What a privilege to be parents and to be the parents of these wonderful little boys. We are so blessed!

Sugar Bowl Victory !!!
Most of you know that Sheri is an avid football fan and cheers the loudest for her Runnin' Utes!! They have had an amazing season (of which she enjoyed a game from her parent's season tickets ... a tradition that dates back to her high school days when she pleaded with her parents to get season tickets). They went 12-0 and beat some amazing teams like Michigan, Oregon and the arch rival BYU!! They were invited to the Sugar Bowl to play Alabama and everyone thought they would lose, but those Utes, proved them wrong. Their first 3 possessions resulted in 3 touchdowns and it just got better and better! While watching Sheri was cheering, yelling, closing her eyes and had to take a few breaks to bring her blood pressure back to normal! With their victory, the Utes got a bit of respect (they are now ranked #2 in the nation by the AP) and they are the only football to have a perfect unbeaten season in the whole country! I love my Runnin' Utes!!!

Christmas 2008

We had a great Christmas this year. On Christmas Eve we went to Grandma's house for some cookie decorating. Logan was more excited about eating a cookie than decorating, but he did manage to get a few cookies decorated. We then went to GG's (great grandma & grandpas) house for our traditional Christmas party. We ate, played the traditional Christmas bingo, acted out the nativity, sang songs and a special visitor left presents outside for the kids. Logan loved opening the presents and was a big helper to others who needed their presents opened.

Christmas morning brought lots of presents and snow. Logan was excited to see that Santa left him a new train set. He LOVES Thomas the train! As a parent, it was fun to watch him get excited about Christmas! He even helped Grandpa pass out the presents!

There was also plenty of snow left for us on Christmas Day. My brother dug out the old snowmobiles and we each got a tour around the neighborhood. It was Kevin's first experience on a snowmobile and he came back smiling. I'm not sure if it was the fun of it or the fact that it was freezing and the grin was frozen to his face! The snowmobiles were put away and tracks were all covered up just in time to see the police officer driving around the neighborhood looking for us. It sure was fun!!

Merry Christmas from the Schmidts! So I just finished being Elvis in a Christmas Concert here in Santaquin. I sang Blue Christmas and had back up singers and everything, it was hilarious, from the bedazzled glasses, hairy chest and crazy silver outfit. It was alot of fun and I'm constantly amazed at what I get myself into. Logan saw me and kept saying "not daddy, not daddy." It was pretty cute!

Logan was the Cookie Monster for Halloween! We had a great time at our City Halloween Carnival that I put on. Logan especially loved playing Plinko, jumping on the bouncy house and the new Tumbling area! It was a great time!

My day at the Country Farm. I had so much fun. Mom and I went to the country farm where I got to see animals like ducks, cows and even got to pet a horse. I especially loved throwing rocks...wait, that is always my favorite activity. The only thing that could get me away from the rocks was some yummy pop corn and I got to pick my own Logan sized pumpkin too!

I love my Fall rides around the neighborhood in my new wagon! It is so fun to visit with my friends who are out and about and I love getting out of the house! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for my new ride!

Our trip to Cove Fort!
We had a blast last Saturday in the very cold Cove Fort! Gerald, Leasa and family were up visiting Leasa's parents who are on a mission there and Leasa invited us down for a visit! We got to spend time with the Gerald Schmidts and enjoy that sweet new baby! Makes us excited for our baby in Feb. We also got to spend time with Lynette and her family...and the newly engaged Kohl and Lindsey! We are excited for you! We were also suprised with the arrival of Karen and Steve and Dana! How fun! Camby, Kendra and Weston completed the crew and you know Logan had so much fun playing with his cousins, especially Weston and Jessica!

Happy 90th Birthday Grandpa! We had a wonderful time seeing our Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Logan of course was busy entertaining the whole party and having a great time! We sure love Grandpa and Grandma Jarrett!

I just have to share this special parenting moment! I was cooking Logan some eggs for breakfast and he came into the kitchen with a lift the flap book that is a barn and has the last page as the animals going to bed. He would lift a flap, see the animal asleep and say: Night Night, then on to the next animal and onto the next. Next thing I know I look over at him and he has his arms folded, is on his knees and is saying jibber jabber for about 30 seconds and then he says: Amen! It was the cutest thing and really made this dad smile! He had said his prayer all by himself and I'm sure our Heavenly Father was smiling down on him as well!

Megan and Will's wedding was so much fun! After our Nauvoo trip we enjoyed the time with Mom and Dad Schmidt and Frank, RaShell, Mandy, Megan and Will and the rest of the wedding guests! The wedding was beautiful, the St. Louis temple is amazing and the party was a blast! Thanks to Megan and Will for inviting us! IT WAS A BLAST!

As part of our trip to St. Louis for Megan and Will's wedding, we took advantage of the chance to go to Nauvoo. It was a blast to spend time with Karen and Steve, Vonnie, Dave and Tammy, Carolyn and Chester, Ron and Joyce and Kadi. We had a wonderful time seeing the sights, attending the temple and taking many U turns as we constantly got lost! Annie's Frozen Custard was the best! I'm wishing I had some right now!!!

Logan is so excited
because he got a NEW Shirt!

Guess what! Logan's going to be a Big Brother!!!

In early June I started not feeling very well. I felt nauseated, dizzy and tired. I thought it might be pregnancy, but after so much trouble with getting Logan I would be shocked if it were actually true. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. I was a disappointed but not shocked. Then I started looking for alternative reasons that I may not feel well. I started checking my blood sugar levels and they were just fine. I thought the problems might have been a result of my weight loss or imbalance of hormones. I finally didn't know what to do so I went to my doctor. He said "you sound pregnant" I told him there was a negative test earlier in the summer. He then handed me a prescription to get my period started again. I came home frustrated that there were no answers, nor any attempt to get an answer. It turns out that I actually misplaced the prescription. A week or two later I bought another test and finally took it on Sunday, August 9th. When I took it I could hardly believe it. Kevin said it was a + (positive) but I could hardly believe it. I had him check it over and over again. How could it be that we had so much trouble and treatment to get Logan and then we could get another miracle baby without treatment? In fact, the next day I went out and bought another test just to be sure. It was still positive (did I expect anything else?)

I finally met with a new doctor on Friday for my first visit. Turns out that I am 15 weeks pregnant (4 months) ... shocker!! When they went to hear the heartbeat there wasn't one. My heart just sunk. How could I be given a blessing of a baby and have it taken away in a matter of days?? The doctor sent me downstairs for an ultrasound. I found Kevin in the waiting room and told him the news. I was praying all along the way. When the ultrasound started, I was too nervous and my eyes too full of tears to watch. I finally asked "Is there a heartbeat?" and the doctor said " yes". Wow, what a relief!! Kevin then said he could the baby moving his/her (I think it's a girl) legs and arms. I was just grateful that there was a heartbeat.

So now we are excited to welcome a new baby into our home in early February 2009. I feel so blessed and recognize what a blessing this little baby is. I am very grateful for this wonderful opportunity.

In the ultrasound the top of the triangle is the baby's head. To the right following the angle of the triangle is the back & hips. The legs are like he/she is sitting in a chair with her legs out and bending at the knee. It's almost like he/she is sitting in a chair looking down at his/her legs.
