Boy were we in for a shock when it snowed, not once but multiple times already! Oh Well, we found our sweat shirts and coats and are good to go...thank goodness it has warmed up again, I like short sleeves and shorts!
Life in Santaquin
Well as you all know we moved to Santaquin in July of 2007. Life has been great and a refreshing change! Santaquin boasts a population of 7500 (a growing), no grocery store, a Subway (the sandwich kind), 3 gas stations and a bunch of great people!
We purchased a home and are loving it! Thanks to the family around here we got it all painted and some repairs done. Roger (my father-in-law) has been so AWESOME to come and help teach me things I didn't know...I can say that I now know how to install an electricity plug, and I even remember to turn off the power before playing with the wires! We love our view of the mountain behind our house (which we already had snow on) and are slowing fixing up each room.
We love having Ryan Payne and Kadi Dalene at BYU where we can have them over every once in a while for a game, a hot meal and even a night's rest if they want it!
I am enjoying my job as the Recreation Manager for Santaquin City and enjoy all the people I get to work with! I am excited to say that the Fall Soccer season is officially over and we made it through without too many problems, Co-Ed Softball is over... (YEAH!!) and next year we will be rethinking how to help adults play nice with each other... maybe I'll have to learn from my new Preschool Gymnastics classes I'm teaching (3 months was a long enough break, and I must say I was a little rusty my first class, but I'm like a well oiled machine again)!
Flag Football is about half over and we are gearing up for Wrestling and Jr Jazz Basketball. I started Kid's Night Out (where parents drop off their kids on a Friday night for 3 1/2 hours and we do games, activities and crafts with them and the parents get to go out for the night). The first one went great and so we will be trying to make it a monthly event. I had this idea to do a Community Halloween Carnival, but since I am a staff of one, I enlisted the help of the elementary school PTAs and co-workers and the Friday Night Thriller Apple Dumpling Gang (my bro-in-law Ryan and his buddies). We'll have that event the Friday before Halloween and it should be great!
I've also got a Christmas Craft show that I'm hosting and several other things I'm trying to start up. It is really fun to diversify the projects and try to meet the needs of as many of the community as I can! Basically I'm busy and loving it!
